"Supposedly" A Book blog. "Really" A school assignment from an English teacher. Not really about books. I talk a lot, randomly, and off topic. But whatEVER, it's my blog and I can write what I want! :-)

Ender's Game
*Spoiler Alert* First off this is definitely one of the best science fictions books I have ever read. Most of the science fiction books I read I usually get bored with quickly. Maybe I'm either reading the wrong ones or maybe they are all written very grownup-ish and dense. However this one was sooooo not what I expected! First of all it was written from the perspective of a 6 year old. (A very smart one, but still) Yes, it does take place in the future, and it does involve a war with aliens. But it's more about Ender's battle training then actually defeating the aliens. I really like how Orson Scott Card describes these scenes when Ender is training for a battle, because in this book it treats all the battles like games. I also like the role that girls play in this book. In most of the science fiction stories I have read they don't really get a part except to play the lovers of the big macho men and then die. In this story they might not have such a big role but they a they are very important to the outcome. Like Ender's sister Valentine. I really like her. And she definitely has an effect on the outcome of the story and of the entire planet.
